About the CN Tower

The CN Tower has been an iconic part of Toronto's skyline and a symbol of Canada since 1976. Standing at 553 metres (1,815 feet) tall, it was the world's tallest free-standing structure for 32 years and remains one of the most recognizable landmarks globally.

Each year, over 2 million people visit the CN Tower to take in breathtaking views of Toronto and Lake Ontario. The Tower is not just an observation platform—it's a complete entertainment destination featuring world-class dining, thrilling EdgeWalk experiences, and stunning architectural beauty.

Engineering Marvel

Built by Canadian National Railway (CN), the Tower took 40 months to complete and required more than 1,537 workers. The structure consists of over 40,000 cubic metres of concrete and 5,000 tonnes of steel.

The CN Tower was designed to withstand Toronto's harsh weather conditions, including high winds and ice storms. It can sway up to 2 feet (0.6m) in 120 km/h winds—which visitors at The Top can sometimes feel!
